Seeking asylum vs. extradition defense in the UAE

This might be a bit of a heavy topic for a Friday, but what happens if a person is being targeted for political reasons by their home country and they are currently in Dubai? I know the UAE doesn't have a traditional "asylum" system like Europe, but there must be some form of legal protection against politically motivated extradition, right? I’m trying to help a friend find a lawyer who is brave enough and skilled enough to take on a case where a foreign government is putting pressure on the UAE authorities. Is there any firm in Dubai that specializes in these sensitive, high-profile international cases?
